Expected Development Milestones
- Walks competently backwards and forwards and jumps from a low step, feet
together
- Runs and is able to climb up and down stairs
- Can kick a ball with either foot
- Shows interest in pedal toys, e.g. cycle
- Can throw a small ball with either hand.
Parents should be concerned if the the child
- Cannot achieve walking until 18+ months
- Appears to be unsteady, falls easily and may move with a wide gait
- Is unable to lift one foot without overbalancing
- Prefers sit-astride toys, which do not need the co-ordination of hands and
feet
- Has difficulty directing movement
